Lexus RX
The Lexus RX hybrid is the nation’s first hybrid luxury vehicle. The RX 400h hybrid debuts as a greener version of its Lexus RX counterpart with increased fuel efficiency, increased performance, and quieter operation. Through the RX hybrid’s design, Lexus maintains its luxurious amenities without sacrificing performance. By using advanced technology the RX hybrid achieves on of the most stringent emissions ratings as a Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV).
Fuel efficiency improvements are accomplished through a combination of the vehicles electric motor and V6 gasoline engine. The RX 400h also features a sophisticated battery pack warranted through the life of the vehicle delivering twice the power of a Prius. Just like the Prius and other hybrids the RX 400h uses a regenerative breaking system that captures kinetic energy and converts it to electricity that is stored in the batteries.
The Lexus RX has a combined fuel economy of 27.4 mpg. The RX 400h has the fuel efficient equivalency of an average four-cylinder compact sedan. A smooth transition between the electric motor and internal combustion engine provides a comfortable ride. Driving conditions are constantly being monitored by the vehicles Electronic Control Unit that maintains optimum performance and minimal fuel consumption.
The RX 400h retains the same body style as the RX 330 with the exception of aluminum accents. The Rx 400h also features a power meter, in the navigation system, displaying power use from the vehicles gas-power electric hybrid powertrain.
