As a new community outreach activity, Citizens
League for Environmental Action Now (CLEAN) and Texas Clean Water
Action are hosting an environmental film series to educate the public
on environmental issues. By creating new partnerships in Austin, the series
stands to bring out students and the general public to raise awareness
and facilitate discussion about environmental issues.
Each screening will include a special guest to answer questions from the
audience.
All screenings will be held the THIRD THURSDAY of each
month at 6 P.M. at the Ruta Maya Coffee House located at 3601 South Congress
Ave., Austin, TX 78704.

Kilowatt Ours reveals the consequences of our coal powered conomy. The film opens with Vice President Dick Cheney's energy policy speech in which Cheney makes the claim that America needs nearly 1900 new power plants in the next 20 years to meet projected electricity demands. From here, filmmaker Jeff Barrie takes viewers on a journey from the coal mines of West Virginia to the solar panel fields of Florida, as he discovers solutions to America's energy related problems.
