Jane Dale Owen

Jane Dale Owen is the daughter of well-known Houstonian Jane Blaffer Owen and granddaughter of Sarah Campbell Blaffer. Her father Kenneth Dale Owen is a renowned Geologist, founder of Gulf Shore Oil Co. and an internationally respected horse and cattleman. Jane went to Bennington College in Vermont and was married to Norwegian Ship owner Per Arneberg father of her two children, Ingrid and Erik Arneberg.
Upon her return to Houston, nine years ago, Jane became very active in the Houston community. She is founder and President of Citizens' League for Environmental Action Now, a non-profit organization whose mission is to educate citizens on air quality issues. She currently serves on the Board of the Federation of American Scientist, and the Advisory Board of the Blaffer Gallery, University of Houston. She was honored at the Blaffer Gallery Gala 2000 recognizing her for her dedicated support, leadership and for continuing her grandmother's legacy and vision for the museum and arts in Texas. She formerly served on the Executive Committee of the Blaffer Gallery and the Executive Committee of the Moores School of Music Society, University of Houston and has chaired fund raising galas for each. She recommended and funded the popular children’s film program called "Family Flicks" at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and served for many years on the museum's Film Committee. Most recently, she was been involved in preservation of historic homes in the River Oaks community. Her home was among the first to be designated as a historic landmark in perpetuity in River Oaks.
